June 21st, 2019

Dear NGMSA families,

We hope that this email finds you safe and well. Further to our ongoing updates on COVID-19 we are pleased to provide a framework for our 2020 season.

We appreciate your patience and would like to acknowledge that our decisions have been and will be guided by the rules and regulations of the city of Niagara Falls and the provincial government of Ontario.

Our plan for 2020 is as follows:

Our projected start date will be the week of July 6. We will have 1 on field session a week per player, for which the focus will be on softball instruction and player development.

We are permitted to have 10 people on the field including coaches. These measures support the requirements of social distancing and guidelines in place within the province of Ontario.

Further to that, players will need to maintain a distance of 6 feet at all times.

Our Instructional teams will consist of 7-8 players plus coaches (within the 10-person limit).

We will not be playing formal games at this time and there will be no uniforms provided at all this year. Other guidelines we will be required to follow are:

-no gum chewing or sunflower seeds

-players will not be permitted to sit on the benches together

-any player that has symptoms of covid will be refused the right to play until they are asymptomatic as per Public Health guidelines

-players will need to sign a waiver in order to participate

IF at some point during this time frame, the gatherings are bumped up to 25 or more, NGMSA will draft teams and games will begin.

Games will of course need to be modified based on the guidelines and regulations of the city of Niagara Falls and provincial government of Ontario.

Please note all on field participation is Weather permitting.

Further to this season’s framework, for all NGMSA players who are registered for the 2020 season, their registration fees will be rolled over to 2021.

In short, players who have committed to play for the 2020 season house league season are also registered through to the 2021 season at no additional cost.

Players who do not wish to participate in the 2020 season, will receive a full refund, however we need you to inform the NGMSA at: on or before SUNDAY, June 28th.

This information will help us to begin to determine the instructional teams and move forward with our plan.

We hope to keep our sessions in line with designated game nights of past years from NGMSA, but this could change depending on the number of players who wish to participate.

The Executive at NGMSA would like to again thank you for your continued enthusiasm for our 2020 season. We have appreciated your patience as we have navigated these challenging circumstances.

COVID-19 UPDATE MAY 13, 2020

Dear Parents, Players and Coaches.

The NGMSA executive would like to inform all of you that we are doing everything within our power to proceed with girl’s softball this season.

With that said, we will be guided by Provincial, Municipal and Niagara Region Health protocols in every step that we take.

We assure you that the health and safety of our players is always the most important factor in any decisions that we make, and even more so in these trying times.

As of now, the City of Niagara Falls parks will remain closed, with a tentative date of  July 1, 2020 for opening.

Although delayed, the season is far from being lost.  We have access to the fields at Palmer Park right through September, and it is our intention to play if it is allowed by authorities, and if it can be done safely. That leaves us with three full months to schedule all games and playoffs.

We will be sure to end the Senior division before September so that there are no conflicts for anyone going away for school.

With that in mind, we have extended our player registration to June 15, 2020.

If you have not registered yet but intend to play this season, please register before June 15 so we have a better sense of our numbers. If you have any questions about registration please email the league at

For those who have already registered but have decided not to play and wish a refund due to health or scheduling concerns, we can accommodate that as well. Please email the league to request a refund.

All decisions made by the executive are based on number of players and if we have a clearer idea of how many teams we will have, it will help us better organize our season.

The league executive continues to meet regularly via Zoom, and we will communicate any updates and information we receive to keep everyone as informed as possible.

Yours truly,

Niagara Girls Minor Softball Association
